Entropia Universe..

This is one of those games I have recently come across which both intrigues but also completely puts me off.

The prospect is good and the mechanics of the game are much the same as many other games. A similar game I find is Eve Online whereby this also has an active, user fuelled economy. This game however, takes the user created economy to the next level. The currency can be exchanged into USD, this therefore means that every item, every piece of land, vehicle or accessory has a real world value to it. This has resulted in a lucky few people being able to make a living from this single game and good for them (although this would not be easy as first thought, and would also involve taking significant risks/investment, unless they happen to get lucky).

The main reason this puts me off is, although I may pay a monthly subscription for a game, this is done automatically and is not something I give a second thought over. If I were to want to invest and buy items in a game to help me progress, where each item i buy would be considered as a real purchase, this for some reason gives the whole transaction a different feel. I can see this mechanic causing people to also get too involved and plunder much more money than they would of ever done in a standard MMO.

The only other thing to mention is that the game has some of the best visuals in an MMO to date, just be sure to get yourself a powerful enough rig to make the most out of it. Personally, I'll stick to playing the standard stuff, but for anybody than ventures into this game, good luck.

What Comes After Space..

From what we know, we live on a particularly lonely planet, whereby the nearest star is a mere few light years away and is likely to be a barren place with no life-supporting planets orbiting it.

Beyond this, there are billions of other stars making up The Milky Way and you would think it highly improbable that none of these have similar life sustaining characteristics like our own lonesome orb. Beyond this ofcourse, we have the inconceivable blackness found between neighbouring galaxies, each galaxy holding itself, billions of stars.

Beyond the furthest reaches of our telescopes and the distances of which light can reach and to what our mind can wonder, what do we find?

An unlimited span of black. Nothingness, a vacuum of complete darkness? I find the prospect of an infinite of something quite hard to get my head around. Yes. We can have an infinitude of numbers as they reach from the hundreds, to the thousands, to the millions and trillions. Numbers however, although being a universal constant, are man-made none the less. When considering an actual space, with width, depth or even circumference maybe, how can a physical space have infinitude mass and density.. Surely there must be an edge to space, and if there is, what would we find?

My personal thoughts with concern to this are that space may be looped or spherical, much like we find on everything else in the universe which has sufficient mass. If this is the case, when travelling through space, you are merely transversing the surface of a sphere (or loop), be it a very, very long one.

Asteroid Belt Around Vega Insinuates Existing Planets In Region

Asteroid Belt Around Vega

The above article confirms that an asteroid belt is existent around Vega, which also suggests that the only reason it is able to keep in its current form, is if planets may exist relatively nearby.

As science and exploration develops over the coming years, we are only going to seem to find more and more planets, and many of these may be heralded in the 'Goldilocks Zone'. Is it only a matter of time until we find out that we are not alone, or will science never become so developed for us to ever find out? Questions we are ofcourse only able to ponder over.

One hundred or even fifty years ago, you would of been mad to think that there was any life beyond our little blue planet. Now however, with all the discoveries and statistics that science has brought us, isn't it now crazy to think there isn't anything else out there? This, in fact, is now highly improbable.
